Prescott Insider is a local guide to Prescott, Arizona and the towns that surround it. We write about the food, events, outdoors, history, and everyday life that make this corner of the high country worth calling home.

What we cover

Our focus is Prescott and its close neighbors: Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, and Dewey-Humboldt. From a new restaurant on Whiskey Row to a trail up Thumb Butte, a weekend festival to a piece of local history, our goal is simple. Help you find the good stuff nearby and always know what is going on close to home.

Who we are

Hi, we’re Chad and Liz, a husband and wife with three kids, living in Gilbert for now. Prescott has been part of our story for a long time.

When Chad was in high school, his grandmother inherited a place in Prescott Valley, and that started years of weekends up the hill. All through college he spent as much time there as he could, exploring Prescott and every town around it, and one of his favorite days was taking the winding mountain roads up to Jerome. After his grandmother passed and the family place was no longer available, the trips didn’t stop. They just changed shape, into two or three week-long summer visits every year.

These days, as a family, we try to spend one or two long weeks in Prescott each year, make our annual trip to Jerome, and get up the mountain one or two weekends a month the rest of the year. Our plan is to move to Prescott full time in the next few years, and then make the drive back down to the Valley to visit our kids.

Prescott Insider is an independent, locally focused publication, and it’s our way of sharing the area we love with locals and visitors alike. It’s also something fun for us: a way to keep getting to know the people and businesses that make this place special, and to build real relationships as we make the move from Valley life to mountain life. Everything here is researched and checked against current sources, and when something comes from someone else, like an event calendar, a trail report, or a reader tip, we say so and link to the source. If you have a tip, a favorite spot we’ve missed, or a story worth telling, we’d love to hear from you. And if you see us around town, say hi!

How we check our facts

Before anything goes up, we confirm that every business we mention is open and check names, prices, hours, dates, and directions against current sources: the business itself, official city, county, state, and Forest Service sites, event organizers, and recent local news. If we can’t confirm something, we leave it out or say so plainly. Legends and ghost stories are labeled as legends.

Things change fast in a growing area, so we go back and re-check our guides, and every post shows the month it was last fact-checked at the top. Spot something out of date? Use the “Something changed? Let us know” link at the bottom of any post or listing, and we’ll verify it and fix the page.
